THE BROCKETTS

Casey and I met the Brocketts just a month after we were married in June of 2008 (they were married just 3 days before us!) and we quickly became fast friends. We've been there for each other through both the ups and the downs and have opened our hearts in the midst of our struggles and shared our greatest joys with one another. Being asked to photograph their precious and energy filled family is an incredible honor as Jess has an incredible eye for all things artistic. We had a blast during our little session and I so enjoyed our time together.

Esther: How did you meet?
Jess: We met at church when we were in high school.

Esther: What was the moment you realized you were in love?
Jess: We were two high schoolers that never had any frame of reference, so I think we've always been in love!

Esther: What qualities does your mate possess that are important to you/that you admire?
Jess: He is constantly putting others above himself, myself and the babes included. He out gives me constantly.

Esther: What do you define as a family?
Jess: The ones you want to draw close. The ones who see you through your mess.

Esther: How did you know you were ready to enter into parenthood?
Jess: We just decided it was time to jump!

Esther: How has parenting changed your relationship with Justin?
Jess: It brings out the best and worst of each of us daily. You learn a new ebb and flow. It's a work in progress.

Esther: What has been your most challenging responsibility as a parent?
Jess: Teaching obedience without demanding it.

Esther: What do you enjoy most as a parent?
Jess: Bedtime. Is that an option? Seriously though, seeing your kid get excited about something you're excited to show them.

Esther: What is the hardest part of being a parent?
Jess: Letting go of expectations.

Esther: How have you changed since you had children?
Jess: We are learning to be more patient and gracious.

Esther: If you could change one thing about the world today that would make it better for your children what would it be?
Jess: The understanding that everyone is a child of God and deserves to be treated as such.

Esther: What is your favorite holiday to celebrate as a family?
Jess: Probably Christmas. We love the traditions.

Esther: What is the best memory that you have about your children?
Jess: Their birthdays are pretty memorable.
